Physiotherapy
The Heeler Centre is a centre of excellence for physiotherapy in Sussex, designed to help you back to full movement and out of pain by treating the whole body
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy uses manual therapy, exercise and advice to help patients who are in pain or suffering a lack of movement and function due to injury, disability or illness.
Physio is not just about treatment by a professional. It involves empowering the patient to be involved in their own care through the provision of advice on everything from lifestyle factors to exercise. In this way, physiotherapy takes into account everything about the patient’s health and wellbeing.
Physiotherapy has many aspects, of which the best-known is rehabilitation and helping patients recover from an injury or trauma.
Who can Physiotherapy help?
Physiotherapy primarily helps individuals return to full movement and health. Physio can help people with injuries sustained through trauma or treat long-term injuries to help manage pain.
Back pain is an area long associated with treatment by physiotherapy and we see a large number of clients who need help managing back pain and getting back on their feet so they can get on with their life.
Physio is often associated with sports injuries and, as a clinic, The Heeler Centre specialises in sports injury treatment using our TEAM approach. Discover more here
What to expect from a Physiotherapy session
While we take a full TEAM approach to your injury or condition, you will have an initial assessment with the most appropriate member of our team to discuss your injury, condition or disability.
On that first visit we talk through your history, including lifestyle factors, so we can gain a full picture of you and see whether there are areas that require focus.
From this, we build a plan to treat the issue, which often involves both manual therapy within the clinic as well as suggested lifestyle changes and movement and exercise designed to be done in your own time.
