Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy that has been used for many years to help treat various symptoms and also help alter behaviour or habits

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the key that enables the vast power of the mind to bring about positive and beneficial changes. Hypnotherapy utilises hypnosis, a state of altered consciousness in which the therapist can help you to access the deeper levels of awareness, to which you are usually oblivious in your normal day-to-day functioning. It is at these deeper levels of consciousness that hypnotherapists work with you, to bring about a change in the way you feel, think and behave.

Who does Hypnotherapy help?

Nearly everyone can benefit in some way from hypnotherapy, whether you want to change a habit or rid yourself of a phobia or some other emotional problem.

Among the problems helped through hypnotherapy are physical conditions, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), as well as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), eating disorders, addictions, weight loss and weight control, sleep issues, pain control and trauma.

Hypnotherapy can also help with negative emotions, including guilt, lack of self-confidence, fears and phobias, stress, stage fright, grief and worry.

While the use of hypnotherapy doesn’t claim to cure any of these issues, the techniques used are designed to bring the body back into balance to maintain your physical and mental well-being.

What to expect

During a hypnotherapy session, you will first discuss with your therapist your symptoms or problems, and they will suggest the right form of treatment for you, based on your conversation and how hypnotherapy works. Hypnotherapy technique doesn't mean you lose consciousness or you're not in control. You will most likely feel a deep sense of relaxation and opening of your awareness to open your subconscious mind. Once in this state, you're open to new suggestions to change behaviours and habits.
